Discount Tickets for “You Took Away My Flag”

It’s Spring and at PLRG we’re in the mood for love. So, we set up  half-price ticket prices for all of you to see one of this season’s finest romances which begins it’s run tonight at Theater Building in Lakeview.

You took Away My Flag: A Musical About Kosovo” is a story of war, romance and rebellion — not only in the context of war, but in terms of age, gender and sexuality.

While her country is held by a foreign occupier, Vjosa, a 20-year-old Albanian girl, falls in love with the commander of the Serb police — the very people terrorizing her family and friends.

Even as her brother joins the guerilla army and her father urges patience, Vjosa falls more deeply in love with Dragan and dreams of escape to America and a previous generation of women who have escaped patriarchy in Chicago.

This rock opera is the story of conflict not only between ethnicities, but between generations and norms as the characters explore the cost of turning their romantic ideals into reality.

It features a live five-piece rock band in accompaniment and the show runs April 2 - May 23 at Theatre Building Chicago.

Use code PLRG when purchasing your tickets online and you’ll score half-price tickets for the first week of the show, starting with tonight’s preview, through April 11!

Here is a sneak peak, from an amateur preview run last year:
