If your skin is feeling a little more, um, reptilian these days, maybe it’s time to switch your soap. Many of your typical drugstores brands contain harsh detergents and other ingredients that can actually dry out your skin. If your skin is flaky and dull, try this for an ingredients list instead:

Saponified olive palm, coconut and castor oils; grapefruit and sweet orange essential oils; calendula flower petals; and nothing else.

This list comes from one of our new favorite products, The Joy of Soap. The brains (and brawn) behind this line, Melissa Hutcheson, started making her own soap when the “over the counter” stuff just wasn’t cutting it.
