Want to see the real life women that inspired Drew Barrymore’s derby-themed film ‘Whip It’? Well PLRG is giving you the chance to see Chicago’s own Windy City Rollers in action!

The first season for the WCR was in 2005, which was so well received that the rollers easily sold out the 1,500-capacity Cicero Stadium and had to make the move to their new home the UIC Pavilion. Right now there are 4 national regions, and the Windy City Roller All-Stars are currently #1 in the North Central Region! The WCR are striving to make roller derby synonymous with Chicago by continuing to train hard and dominate their competition. PLRG thinks the Windy City Rollers are a perfect fit for Chicago sports fans, and definitely worth checking out!

PLRG is giving away a pair of tickets for the home game double header on May 22nd at 6pm, which features Double Crossers vs. The Fury and Manic Attackers vs. Hell’s Belles. Be front and center for a hard-hitting, lightning-fast and full of attitude roller derby in one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.

Talk Derby To Me Pub Crawl!
Saturday, May 2nd, 12:30pm - 5:30pm

PoorLittleRichGirls has teamed up with Players Sports Group to bring you the best pub crawl of the year-Talk Derby To Me! This fun filled day is in honor of the most exciting minute in sports, The Kentucky Derby! Before the race we’ll be hitting 6 bars all over Lincoln Park where you’ll be getting great drink specials, like $2 beers and $3 “Kentucky Kool-Aid” made with the new premium TY KU Vodka!

Tickets are only $10 to get in on the DERBY ACTION! Participants will be eligible to win cool prizes, like Cubs tickets! Love to dress up!? The best jockey, horse outfit or derby hat wins two tickets to a Cubs game that includes an on-field experience watching batting practice before the game! Go Cubbies! 

Our event sounded so fun, the Windy City Rollers are graciously allowing us to use their “Talk Derby To Me” slogan and inviting all participants to the Roller Derby that night! All pub crawlers will get 40% off tickets to the 6pm “Winners Circle” Bout at the UIC Pavilion after the crawl. Just show your pub crawl flyer that night to get a $12 ticket to the derby! Heat 1: 12:30pm- 1:30pm: Wrightwood Tap 

Heat 2: 1:30pm-2:15pm: Grand Central

Heat 3: 2:15pm – 3pm: Prost

Heat 4: 3pm – 3:45pm: The Spread 

Heat 5: 3:45pm – 4:30pm: Toasted Ox 

Heat 6: 4:30pm – 5:30pm: Hi Tops

Be one of the first 20 people to check-in at HEAT #1 (The Wrightwood Tap/ 1059 West Wrightwood) and you’ll get issued a name of a horse racing in the Kentucky Derby. If your horse is the winner, you’ll get $100 cash!

No need to purchase tickets ahead of time. You’ll just pay at the Wrightwood Tap on Derby Day but, RSVP to one of the below to let us know you are coming!
