Celebrate Re.Stock’s First Birthday with Amazing Sales & Events

Re.Stock Shop was a contender in the 2010 Battle of the Boutiques.

June marks the first anniversary of Re.Stock Shop, Chicago’s only traveling designer sample sale, and they have pulled out all the stops to celebrate and thank their customers!

And what better way to show their appreciation than to put on killer sales every weekend in June. We’re talking up to 80% off designers like Ted Baker, JLee Silver and Serpico (to name a few). Check out their website for more detailed information on times and dates of the sales.

There are also a ton of special events ging on for their customers this month:

  • H2O Warehouse Sale, June 12- Located across the street from the RE.STOCK Shop Sale! Savvy shoppers can stock up on great summer clothing and great skincare products and save up to 80% off!
  • The JLee Silver Trunk Show, June 19- Shoppers can meet the designer and check out their new Spring 2010 Collection all specially priced. 12-5pm.
  • Taste of Randolph, June 18-20- This is a chance for people to indulge their taste for great food & great fashion. They’re located just steps away from the street fair.
Last, but certainly not least, Re.Stock Shop will be hosting their 1st Anniversary Party and you are invited! From 4pm-8pm, you can party with fellow fashionistas enjoying food, drinks, music and, of course, fashion. There will also be goodie bags for the first 100 guests to arrive.
PS- There is word that an after party is in the works. Stay tuned to PLRG and Re.Stock Shop for further details.

Beta Boutique Closes with Blowout Designer Sale

We all love Beta Boutique’s famous “Stacked Rack” sale and all of their other fabulous, traveling sample sales. Well, it’s not just us, but all of Chicago, that goes gaga for these sales, and so with that, beta has decided to close the doors to their permanent location to focus on bringing you even bigger, better and more fashionable events!

But, as sad as we are to see them leave their Bucktown outpost, we are always happy to shop a “closeout” sale. Now, through Sunday, March 14 you can score discounts from 40-90% off their selection of designer duds. 90% off? Talk about a dramatic discount, er, I mean exit!

Beta Boutique
2016 W. Concord Place in Bucktown

And a note to fellow non-size-zeros- this sale promises not to exclude and carry lots of “normal people” sizes.

Jimmy Choo for H&M

Jimmy Choo for H&M

Have you ever dreamed of gracing your closet and your wardrobe with the likes of Jimmy Choo? Well now is your chance, because H&M is launching Jimmy Choo’s own private line on November 14th and while there will of course be jaw dropping heels there will also be clothing, bags, accessories, and even some goodies for the guy in your life too.

But, before you decide to stroll into H&M on the launch date there are a few things you should know, because when a designer sells for less chaos always ensues.

If you happen to show up before store hours, which is probably a must, then kindly wait in line until the H&M staff gives you further instruction. H&M will have a queuing system in place where the first 160 people in line will receive a bracelet. The bracelet will give you a specific time for shopping in the designated Jimmy Choo area of the store. If you are not one of the 160 first in line, fear not, you will still get to grab designer duds but you will have to wait 2 hours until the designated area is open to all of the customers.

One other word of caution- don’t get all your girlfriends’ sizes and tell them you’ll pick them up some heels because there are limitations.  Every customer can buy from the entire collection but you can only buy a maximum of one per product, so you can’t buy two pair of rhinestone flats, only one (we know, but those are the rules).

Keep in mind this collection will not be available at every H&M, so check out their website for further details; however, the H&M location at 840 North Michigan Avenue will be selling the collection.

Be sure to mark the date on your calendars and happy hunting ladies!

Gen Art Introduces Chicago’s Best Emerging Designers

Gen Art Introduces Chicago’s Best Emerging Designers

Fashion Focus Chicago is just around the corner, October 22-25, but are you up to date on your local fashion scene? No need to stress. We’ve already done your homework for you by choosing three of our favorite designers to watch showing at Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion event, October 24:

Comfy and Cute Day or Night: Imaginary People
Here are two girls who get how most of us live. We work hard, but play hard too and need clothing that feels great on and looks good too. Telo Dunne and Olivia Shanks, admitted party girls, create flowy jersey dresses, vests, and tops that are modern, yet timeless and totally wearable.

Feminine Classics with a Hint of Edge: JLee Silver
We’re so glad Melanie Manego and Jenna Lee Fowler, founders of Fashion Heist, a clothing distribution company, decided to found their own label, JLee Silver. Their pieces are affordable, but that doesn’t mean they spare any detail. You’ll see clothing that is both functional and feminine, a perfect mix for a big meeting or drinks after work!

The Perfect Party Dress: Red Doll by Tatyana Merenyuk
Playful, pretty and party-ready is what comes to mind when we think of Red Doll by Tatyana Mernyuk. Her dresses, skirts and capes are the stuff little girls dreams are made of. Short hemlines and plunging v-necks lend some grown-up sexiness to all the ruffles and bows, making it the ultimate in party attire.

There will be five womenswear and menswear designers and three accessories designers in all at the Fresh Faces event. Get your ticket today and use code PLRG25 to get a 25% discount off the ticket price!

“Outfox” Designer Prices at Fox’s!

“Outfox” Designer Prices at Fox’s!

Have you been to Fox’s yet? For some reason, when pressed to list the top designer discount stores in the area, one store seems to miss the list, and I think I know why. Full disclosure- it’s the dressing rooms. The dressing rooms are more…uh…er… communal, I think is the right word. Yes, they are open, I admit it. Think bathroom stalls without doors. I don’t know why they do it, but I just try to stay focused on my clothes and wear mental horse blinders so I don’t accidentally see anything else. After a few visits I don’t even think about it anymore.

A die-hard discount fashionista would not let this deter them! In fact, I rank it right under my beloved Loehmann’s. Why? As I scan through my closet I came up with a few reasons:

  • Hudson black flare jeans which I got for $89 (retail $189)
  • Laundry raincoat for $98 (retail $198)
  • Shoshanna dress for $109 (retail $259)

Are you with me so far? Give it a chance and make sure you wear cute underwear if you’re planning on trying anything on!

Fox’s
2150 N Halsted St, Chicago

Store hours
Sun 12 - 5:30pm
Mon - Wed 11 - 7pm
Thurs - Fri 11 - 8pm

Bloomie’s Sale Starts Next Week

Get more of these for less during the Friends & Family Sale.

Attention Bloomie’s shoppers…the Bloomingdale’s Friends and Family sale starts Thursday, October 1 and ends Sunday, October 4. If you’ve been pining all spring and summer over a certain pair of shoes or earrings perhaps, now is the time to swoop in!

The sale boasts 20% off almost all regular and sale-priced purchases for women, men, kids and home (hint, hint-this is a great time to scour all your friends registries and buy that wedding gift you’ve been meaning to). Sale applies both in-store and online (enter code FRIENDS online).

I trust my fellow loyal card holders are on top of this and have already shopped the pre-sale this weekend. If you didn’t know about that, next time there is a Bloomingdale’s sale you can shop before the sale starts a la “pre-sale.” It’s a great way to ensure the merchandise you want isn’t sold out and you can beat the crowds.

If you don’t yet have a Bloomingdale’s card and want to take advantage of the sale, this is an opportune time to open a charge. If you sign-up for the card during the sale, not only will you receive all the discounts but you will actually get an additional 10% off your total purchases.
