Luxury Living

We are really nosy when it comes to people’s homes. One of our favorite things about Chicago is that you can walk down a street full of brownstones with huge front windows and sneak a peek inside. We walk extra slow, get up on our tiptoes and catch the best glimpse we can without looking too creepy. It’s even better in a hood like Lincoln Park or the Gold Coast, where the homes and rooms inside are decked out to the nines.

Well, someone out there recognizes our innate need to snoop, because this weekend for only $15 you can tour all the lavish homes your little hearts desire without any of the guilt. It’s the last weekend of the 5th annual Chicago Luxury Home Tour, featuring 22 homes with price tags ranging from $900,000 to $4 million. The homes are scattered around the Chicagoland area, so you’re going need a car for this one ladies (we recommend going as a group and splitting the gas money).

Pick up your “passports” ahead of time at one of 55 participating Caribou Coffee locations (otherwise tickets are $20 at the door). Your passport will let you into all of the homes once, and also gets you into the Viking Refreshment Stop where you can sample gourmet treats to keep you going on your suburban journey. Just remember to bring a pair of socks, as shoes and bare feet are not allowed in the homes.

Choose from truffle/duck fat fries with smoked sea salt or regular fries with lemon salt, fresh oregano and grated parmesan reggiano.
If you're celebrating Bastille Day, July 14, what better way to pay homage to our French friends than with gourmet food and wine? In Fine Spirits is serving up a four-course garden dinner and wine pairing, prepared by Chef Marianne Sundquist, for just $50. Make sure to call and RSVP by July 10.
