No Need to Beg & Steal When You Can Borrow the Dress for Less

With so many cool boutiques in Chicago, it is rare that one makes an impression on us. They carry hard to find designers? So what? The season’s latest styles? Big Deal. But, sometimes, when the stars are aligned just right, you come across a new boutique and think, “Where have you been all my life!?” That boutique is called BADC (Borrow A Dress Couture).

While BADC does stock their racks with in season dress styles from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Marchesa and Badgley Mischka, instead of committing to a lifetime of hot pink chiffon ruffles (so hot right now), you can rock the dress for just three days for a fraction of the price. Just as their name implies BADC rents out their high end party gear, so you can look like a million bucks for somewhere between $50 and $300.

Like most innovative concepts, BADC was born out of necessity. Owners Teonna Ingram and Bree lara, long time BFF’s, were spending their way into the poor house trying to dress themselves for their jam packed calendar of events. “It seemed like we always had something to go to, an event or a party, and of course we wanted to look good, but that gets expensive after while,” says Teonna. “We knew there were women out there who ‘borrowed’ dresses anyway from stores,” Teonna continued, “meaning they wore the items with the tags tucked in and returned them the next day.”

True to PLRG style, the girls of BADC knew they couldn’t just sit back and leave women with the option of continuing this degrading practice or sacrificing style.

And, with charity event and wedding season in full swing, BADC’s launch could not have been timed better. With all the money you’ll save on the dress, Teonna  suggests “spending some of the money you saved to donate to the cause the event is supporting.” “It’s not just about you and the dress, you know, you are there to help the charity,” she jokingly reminds me.  And, while I know the charity dinner is not about me and my friend’s wedding is her day, not mine, I can’t help but feel the need to look super hot and make strangers jealous. Now, I can arrive to parties in style, covered in $2,000 worth of designer duds, and only my PLRG’s will know my little secret.

I have my eye on a gold and black Dolce & Gabbana number for an event later this month (hands off, ladies!). I’ll be using our Deal & Discount to score $25 off any dress lease on any dress priced $100 or more! You can too- Just mention PLRG when you’re checking out.
