$1 Party Makeup

When it comes to makeup trends in 2009, everyone from Christian Dior to Nars is going for a softer look. Think of a fairy princess with porcelain skin, a touch of peach on her cheeks and soft smoky eyes (using spring colors, instead of harsh black and grey) rimmed with violet eyeliner. The overall look is pretty, natural, and oh-so-easy to achieve.

It’s even easier to get this look if you skip the department store counter and head to eyeslipsface.com where most makeup is just $1 per item. Um, did you hear that, Bobbi Brown? One dollar! Some of our favorite picks for looking ethereal in ‘09 are below:

Natural Radiance Blusher in Innocence, $1
This season, peachy tones are the hot color for blush. Plus, this one actually textures skin and helps minimize pores to give you flawless looking skin (another trend for 2009).

Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Baby Lips, $1
This lipstick is not only the perfect color for that “fairy princess” look, but it also has intense hydrators so you can even wear it this winter to head off dry lips and get ahead of the trend!

Clarifying Pressed Powder, $1
Matte and flawless is in this season for skin (although we’re not sure it ever went out of style). This powder does triple duty by treating and preventing imperfections, and also absorbing oil to keep that matte look all day long.

Liquid Liner in Plum, $1
Liquid liner glides on so much easier than a traditional pencil. Grab this one in Plum, the color of the moment.

EXTRA CREDIT

Individual Lash Kit, $1
If you feel like going the extra mile to complete your new look for the new year, try applying just a few individual lashes at the corners of your eyes. This will immediately open them up and make your eyes appear larger.

i have used several elf products and they are of excellent quality, cruelty free, and seem to have more natural ingredients than many name brands. the bath and body spa kits are my favorites. they also have fine and affordable accessories like makeup cases, brushes, applicators and lashes! sometimes specials are offered like restaurant cards magazine subscriptions and similar deals if you buy in specified quantities. i highly recommend elf products! ;D

We agree, Melody! It is our fave place to stock up on essentials, like lip gloss and shadows. Plus, with the $1 price tags, we can afford to experiment a bit more with colors.

My only issue with the ELF products are the brushes- yes, it’s a good deal but you pay for with the little hairs coming off on your cheeks whenever you blush.. or is this just me…?

  4. Gina R Says:

I have never used elf brushes, but when that’s happened to me before- when the little brush hairs stick to your face- I use a fan brush to dust them off once I’m all done applying. Maybe spend just a tad more on the fan brush and you’d be ok?

Mine is similar to this one:

Great finds! Just what I need to fill up my new make up bag from Salon Hive. It’s a fabulous shade of pink on the outside and needs some brightly colored baubles on the inside!
